Reconnecting with my past…..
It has been a crazy and remarkable summer and I am so thankful that I can live life to the fullest!!! It started in June with the graduation of my baby (not so small anymore) from high school. My 18 year old son Parker graduated and I now have two sons attending college, Parker and Taylor who is 21. The joy for me is that they are both working and paying their own way through school.. what a blessing they are to me and my husband.!!!
I had the honor and privilege to be the keynote speaker at Northwest Florida Cancer Survivor Day in Northwest Florida with over 100 survivors coming to celebrate LIFE!! As a seven year cancer survivor, I was thrilled to be able to share my testimony with these folks about how God has given me the grace and faith to battle cancer.
In August, I had the wonderful opportunity to go on a mission trip to Guatemala with the Women of Compassion and work with the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes at the malnutrition center for children. It was such a life changing event as we ministered to 75 precious children and came together as women to help change lives… including our own.
There were 18 women who came from all over the state of Florida and work with these precious children who are there to be nursed back to health. We worked in the kitchen, with the children and the staff as we led them in bible study. If you ever have the chance to work with the FBCH with our new Orphans’ Heart missions, take the plunge… you will be glad that you did.
As fall approaches, I would define my life as RECONNECTING WITH MY PAST!!! I just had the opportunity to go to my home church that I grew up in and speak at a women’s luncheon and be reconnected to all of those ladies that played a tremendous part of growing me up spiritually. When I returned, I had another opportunity to tape a bible study for a group of military wives who live in Germany and send it to them for their fall retreat. I had the privilege to speak to them last fall in a castle on the Rhine River and they asked me to send them a tape for this year. It was fun to reconnect with my friends that I made last year at the women’s fall retreat in Germany.
I have two reunions coming up in October for my 30 year college reunion at Mississippi College and my yearly reunion with my college girlfriends. I am also spending a week in
Hawaii for my 25th wedding anniversary so I can reconnect with my husband as well.
Isn’t it great how life works out? I am so thankful for the past that I have with friends and people who have influenced my life, but it is even more exciting as we start new friendships and challenges. The life changing event of being a part of a mission trip and now starting this new Women of Purpose Speak ministry is filled with hope, faith and living life to the fullest!!! Hoping to meet you soon and inviting you to be a part of our
Passion to share Christ…… Blessings, Nancy
